Research Interests

My research is mainly focused on the development and study of sculptured thin films and interfaces. I have extensive research experience in tailoring the nanomorphology by physical self-assembly induced unique nanostructure fabrication technique called the “Glancing Angle Deposition (GLAD). Using this unique deposition technique, I have shown the fabrication of a wide range of shape-controlled structures like rods, springs, etc. with a wide choice of materials and sizes in the nano to micrometer range. These structures have essential applications in developing novel optical films and as a plasmonic substrate for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS), water repellent surfaces, bio/chemical sensing, photocatalysis, and thermophotovoltaics.
I received my Ph.D. in physics from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IITD) in 2017 and currently working as a postdoctoral researcher at Kyoto University since Feb 2018. During my Ph.D. I worked on the development and study of SERS substrates fabricated by GLAD. Apart from extending these studies into bio-sensing applications, I presented efforts in the integration of reusable and flexible properties with these substrates as well as incorporating properties like photocatalyst within the same overall fabrication strategy. I also have experience in the numerical simulation of electromagnetic field enhancement using FDTD.
